Today was an exceptional day aboard the Big Eye 2 Sportfishing vessel as we set out from the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica. I, Captain Franklin Araya, was pleased to host Steve, an avid fly fisherman, for a full day of sport fishing adventure.
We started our day early in the morning, with the sun just beginning to cast a golden hue over the Pacific Ocean. The weather was perfect for fishing – calm seas and clear skies, an ideal setting for any angler. The water temperature was just right, promising a good day of fishing ahead.
Our first stop was a well-known fishing spot about 20 miles offshore. The baitfish were abundant, attracting a variety of game fish. Steve, with his fly fishing gear, was eager to get started. He was particularly interested in catching a Roosterfish, a species famous in Costa Rica for its strength and beauty.
We spent the morning hours casting and reeling, enjoying the thrill of the chase. Steve’s skills as a fly fisherman were evident as he expertly handled his gear. By mid-morning, his efforts were rewarded with a beautiful Roosterfish. The fish put up a good fight but Steve managed to reel it in, a testament to his skill and patience.
As the day progressed, we moved to a different spot known for its Sailfish population. Steve was up for the challenge and, armed with his fly rod, he managed to hook a magnificent Sailfish. The fish leaped and danced on the water, but Steve stayed calm and focused, eventually reeling in the prize catch.
Overall, it was a rewarding day of fishing aboard the Big Eye 2. We caught a variety of fish and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Costa Rican coast. Steve was a fantastic guest, demonstrating impressive fly fishing skills and a great passion for the sport.
