Today was another exciting day on the waters of Quepos, Costa Rica aboard Big Eye 2 Sportfishing with yours truly, Captain Franklin Araya. We had the pleasure of hosting a fantastic group of anglers from Texas who were eager to experience the thrill of Costa Rican sport fishing.
We set out early in the morning with clear skies and calm seas, the perfect conditions for a productive day of fishing. Our initial target was sailfish, known as “pez vela” in Spanish. These beautiful and fast predators are a favorite among sport fishing enthusiasts due to their acrobatic fights and impressive size.
Our experienced crew worked tirelessly, skillfully rigging the live baits and constantly adjusting our trolling speed to entice these elusive creatures. The hard work paid off when the reel screamed, signaling the first hookup of the day. Our guests from Texas were thrilled as they battled and eventually landed not one, but two magnificent sailfish.
But the day was not over yet. We then shifted our focus to tuna, another popular species among sport fishermen. Known for their strength and speed, these fish provide an exhilarating fight that tests the skill and endurance of even the most seasoned anglers. Our guests were up for the challenge and managed to land a sizable tuna, adding another trophy to their successful fishing day.
Back at the dock, the smiles on our guests’ faces said it all. They had experienced the thrill of sport fishing in Quepos, Costa Rica, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
