Today was an exceptional day out on the waters surrounding Quepos, Costa Rica aboard the Big Eye 2. As the owner and operator of Big Eye 2 Sportfishing, I, Franklin Araya, had the pleasure of guiding a group of enthusiastic anglers in pursuit of the elusive sailfish.
We started our day early, heading out 15 miles from the Quepos Marina Pez Vela. The weather was in our favor, with clear skies and calm seas providing the perfect conditions for a day of sport fishing. We had our lines in the water by sunrise, eagerly anticipating the day’s catch.
The sailfish were particularly active today, with 10 sailfish hooked and released. Each one of these beautiful creatures put up a good fight, displaying their strength and agility as they leaped out of the water in an attempt to shake free from the line. It was a sight to behold, and a testament to the rich biodiversity of the waters off the coast of Quepos.
In addition to the sailfish, we also had a few bites from other species. A couple of dorado (mahi-mahi) were reeled in, adding variety to the day’s catch. These fish are known for their vibrant colors and delicious taste, making them a favorite among our anglers.
As the day came to a close, we made our way back to the marina, satisfied with the day’s events. Back on shore, the catch was cleaned and prepared, ready to be enjoyed as a fresh seafood feast.
